Mrs. Nellie E. Stright, 86, of 1220 Chestnut St., died in Greenville Hospital at 7 a.m. today, Sept. 7.
She was born in Polk May 28, 1904, a daughter of Chester Burton and Ida Ellia Adams Wood.
She married Wesley Merle Stright who died Dec. 3, 1943.
She worked at Polk Center for 28 years as a supervisor in the laundry, retiring from there. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Her favorite hobbies were quilting and crocheting and she was a member of the Polk Quilting Bee.
Surviving are three sons, Gerald, Lewis and G. Reed Stright; two grandchildren, Lynn and Susan; and seven great-grandchildren. Deceased are her husband; three grandchildren, Lisa, Kimberly and Barbara ; four sisters, Cora, Clare, Bertha and Ada; and two brothers, Ralph and Braden.
Services will be at Gardinier Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. John Sass Jr., pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Old Sandy Cemetery, Polk.
