Charles Rector was born in Clark county, Kentucky, son of John and Charlotte Hieronymus. About 1822 John moved his family to Howard county, Missouri where he died during the winter of 1825-26. Charlotte and the children moved to lower Saline county, now Pettis County, Missouri, they were some of the earlier pioneers of Pettis County. Charles married Susan France on Apr. 22, 1841, Susan had ten children before she passed away. Charles then married Mary S Kemp on Sept. 24, 1863, they had eight children. Charles Rector was a farmer with a good bit of land.
