Mr. William Eugene Abrams, age 82, of 311 Simpson Road, Anderson, husband of the late Evelyn Barber Abrams, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center. Born August 5, 1918, in Ware Shoals, Mr. Abrams was the son of the late William Eugene Abrams and the late Agnes Abrams. He was a graduate of Erskine College and a retired teacher.
He is survived by a son, Edgar Barber "Bobby" Abrams, and daughter-in-law, Alice Gene Abrams of Lincolnton, NC; a daughter-in-law, Susan Abrams of Lilburn, Ga; two brothers, Luke Abrams of Ware Shoals, and Phil Abrams of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Wilma Dockham of Easley; four grandchildren, Mac Abrams of Washington, DC, Amanda Abrams of Lincolnton, NC, Billy Abrams of Lilburn, Ga, and Ginny Van Oostrom of Lawrenceville, Ga; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany. He is also survived by special friends who loved and cared for him, Sue Meeks, Pearl Esco and Sharon Hamby. Mr. Abrams was preceded in death by a son, William Eugene Abrams; a brother, Ed Abrams; and two sisters, Elizabeth Ballentine and Juanita McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at Young Memorial ARP Church Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at 11am with the Dr. L. Thomas Richie officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson. The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in front of Young Memorial ARP Church at 10am prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Young Memorial ARP Church, 508 Boulevard, Anderson, SC. The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Published in The Greenville News on Feb. 27, 2001.
