Ernestine Ethengane was born on June 21, 1913, the youngest of twin girls born to Emest and Elizabeth in Scotland Neck, North Carolina.

Ernestine was educated in the Halifax County Schools. She attended Elizabeth City State University and received a B. S. in Education. She taught at the Brawley Elementary School in Scotland Neck for over forty years. She loved her children and her job. She was dedicated to her family, her church and the community.

She was married to George D. Felton and from this union, one daughter, Diane Felton Vines, was born.

She joined Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age. She was a member of the Senior Choir, taught Sunday School, Director of Vacation Bible School and also a Deaconess.

She is survived by two nieces: Carolyn Curtis and Betty Ann Robinson; one son-in-law: Glen Vines; and a host of great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and dear friends.
