Per the information on the death certificate for "Earnest Linwood Ethengaine", Certificate No 27022, he was the son of Peyton Ethengaine and Missouri Anothy. He was married at the time of his death and was buried on November 3, 1952 in Kehukie Cemetery, Scotland Neck, N.C. Elizabeth Ethengaine of Scotland Neck was the informant.

His first wife was Etta W. Smith for whom he married September 19, 1905 in Scotland Neck, NC.

After Etta's death, he married Bettie Johnson on January 8, 1913 in Scotland Neck, Halifax County, NC.

NOTE: His name is shown as Earnest Linwood Ethengaine on his death certificate and his birth date as September 20, 1887. His grave marker shows a birth date of September 20, 1885, and his tombstone shows a birth date of December 20, 1887. His birth date is shown as September 20, 1884 on the WWI Draft Registration Card for Earnest Lennard Ethengain.

"Ethengane" is also spelled "Ethengain" as noted by the grave marker for his brother, John Ethengain, who is also buried in the Kehukie Baptist Church cemetery.
