William Jefferson “Jeff” Holcomb was married three times:
First to Martha Gibson, daughter of Jesse Gibson and Elizabeth Cook, on 22 Apr 1847 in Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas. They had seven children: Benjamin Franklin Holcomb, Laura Ann Holcomb, Joseph Gibson Holcomb, Samuel J. Holcomb, Sarah Elizabeth Holcomb, Thomas Jefferson Holcomb and George William Holcomb. Martha died 18 Dec 1859 and was buried in the Cook/Gibson Family Plot in Salem Cemetery, Cherokee County, Texas.

William J. Holcomb's second marriage was to a Mrs. Penelope Snipes, widow of Robert P. Snipes, on 4 Oct 1860, in Cherokee County, Texas. Her maiden name is not known at this time, but possibilities include Prince or Pearce. They had a son, James W. Holcomb, who died in Ellis County, Texas and was buried in Telico Cemetery, where my great grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Holcomb, was also buried. James W. Holcomb and Thomas J. Holcomb were half-brothers. Penelope died circa 1864 with burial place unknown.

William J. Holcomb's third marriage was to Martha A. Hamilton, daughter of John Dobson Hamilton and Mary Ann McLein on 1 Jun 1865 in Cherokee County, Texas. No issues.

William J. Holcomb is presumed to be buried in the Cook/Gibson Family Plot as well, although rusted metal tombstone markers no longer bear a record.
