Frances "Fran" Roth Ziegler, 95, of Albany passed away peacefully Sunday evening.

Fran was born in Albany, the daughter of William and Anna B. (Roth) Whitaker. As a young girl, Fran moved to California with her family, where she graduated from Burbank High School and acquired her associate degree from Glendale Community College.

She met Ernest Ziegler and they married in Vancouver, Wash., on Aug. 24, 1935. Fran attended and graduated from cosmetology college in Salem. She worked at a few salons, then opened her own shop. Fran managed The Pop's Cafe, known now as Pop's Branding Iron, after managing Tops Cafe.

Fran attended the Albany Presbyterian Church, and was involved with the Al Kader Shriners and Shriners Hospital in Portland. She was a member of the Elks, Eagles, American Legion Post 10, Eastern Star, Albany Gleaners and Daughters of the Nile.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest; and sisters Viola, Elma, Virginia, Margaret and Beverly.

Survivors include her sister, Doris Graupensperger and husband George of Albany; special sisty Leona Schrock of Albany; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

Viewing will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. S.W., Albany, OR 97321.
