Joseph Bolyard, 89, died at 9 o'clock this morning (Friday) at the Home hospital, Lafayette. Last Saturday he had undergone surgery.

Mr. Bolyard was born on the farm northwest of Mulberry on which Floyd Bolyard now lives, on August 28, 1858. In 1882 he married Sylvia Cavender, who preceded him in death. To this union were born six sons: Chalmer, of Cleveland, Ohio; Thomas, James and Chalmer, of Lafayette, and John and Fred, both deceased.

Mr. Bolyard spent his entire life in this community and was a farmer until he moved to Mulberry in 1905. He was quite proud of the fact that he had traveled by all modes of transportation from ox team to airplane. He was a good citizen and will be missed.

Other survivors, in addition to the four sons, are 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Kleinsmith funeral home, with the Rev. George W. Wolf of West Lafayette officiating. Burial will be in Fair Haven.
