Mrs. Beatrice Matney, 88, of Route 2, Whitesburg, died Sunday at her home. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Boone, NC. Survivors include: daughters, Margaret Elkins and Reba Price of Rogersville, Lorene Alvis of Morristown, Wanda Cinnamon of Church Hill, and Ruth Justice and Patsy Walker of Whitesburg; sons, Clay and J. D. Matney of Morristown; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother Roscoe Cook and half-brother Paul Cook of Boone, NC. Funeral services were conducted February 10 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. George Johnson and Ward Ashley officiating.
