Charles Harsch
age 77, of Belleville, MI, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his winter home in Phoenix, Arizona.

On March 22, 1936 God blessed the home of Charles and Leah (Hall) Harsch of Mishawaka, Indiana with a son. A graduate of Mishawaka High School, he attended Purdue University and embarked on a career of product design in the aviation and automobile industries. During his time working at Bendix Corporation in South Bend, Indiana he met his future wife, Elaine Fredericks. On May 10, 1958 they married. Over the years God blessed them with 5 children. Mr. Harsch is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine Eleanor (Fredericks) Harsch.

"Chuck's" life centered around his family. He taught his boys by working on home improvement projects and automotive upkeep. Vacations included visiting the grandparents in Indiana and winter trips to Northern Michigan. Throughout the years he was always involved in his local church, enjoyed keeping active with rollerblading, volleyball, and travelling. He was also an avid reader and puzzler.

Out of their love for each other, Chuck and Elaine were blessed with 5 children: Steve (Kim), and Scott (LaNae) both from Belleville, MI, Sheryl (George) Pylar of Cincinnati, OH, Stacey (Gerhard) Kaiser, of Linz, Austria, and Shawn of Huntington Beach, CA.

His love and commitment to family was central in his adult life. There was no time more important than time spent with family. He is loved and respected by 16 grandchildren Amy, Steven, Leah, Garrett, Bridget, Kristin, Ryan, Ashleigh, George, Elena, Emma, Thomas, Daniel, David, Elisabeth and Jacob, 4 great-grandchildren Alivia, Addison, Gracelyn and Natilee. He was joyfully awaiting the arrival of 2 more great-grandchildren this summer. Chuck is also survived a sister Norma Denney of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, from 12:00pm-3:00pm and 4:00pm-8:00pm at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 42682 Ecorse Rd, Belleville, MI. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00am at the Church on Friday, February 7. A funeral procession to Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI will follow.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that contributions be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 42682 Ecorse Rd, Belleville, MI 48111 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
