This is from an obituary in the Lockport Journal on October 28,1887:

"The funeral of the late Charles C. Sutherland, who died recently at Boston, brother of the famous seven Sutherland sisters, noted for their long hair, took place yesterday at the Sutherland homestead on the Ridge Road in this county.
The deceased was well known in this city and county, where he was very popular. Recently he has been connected with the sisters in business in New York, Boston and Philadelphia.
While in Boston his lungs which have always been weak, were violently attacked, and although having the best medical aid, he was stricken down never to recover. His death was a severe blow to his sisters, as he was their only brother.
The funeral yesterday was largely attended. The Rev. C.W. Camp of Grace Episcopal church conducted the services.
The sisters, the Misses Victoria, Sarah, Mary, Isabella, Gracie and Dora were present. Mrs. H. Bailey, nee Nioma, was detained in New York. Her husband, with Mr. J.F. Garrow, was present.
The body was placed in the vault at Glenwood cemetery, where it will await burial at the convenience of the family."
