Captain George Roscoe Robey Jr, USN (Ret) passed away on 27 January 2014, age 83 at Bethany Beach Delaware. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey of 59 years; six children: Patrick M. Robey and wife Jean, Tampa FL; Thomas E. Robey and wife Karen, Boiling Springs, PA; Bridget A. Anderson and husband Pat, Reston, VA; Mary E. Ladd and husband Peter, Bel Air, MD; Marcelle E. Robey, Carlisle, PA; and George R. Robey III and wife Rebecca, Camp Hill, PA, 7 grand children; and sister Maryann Meyers, Dallas TX.
Born 25 November 1930, he graduated the US Naval Academy, class of 1954. His Naval career, as a submariner included his Command Tour of Duty aboard the USS Grenadier (SS-525), graduating from the U.S. Army War College (Class 1970), and assignments to the Joint Chiefs of Staff Communications Office and Deputy Inspector General for the United States Navy. He retired in 1978 and worked as a Systems Engineer for Tracor until 1988. He served as a Trustee on the United States Naval Academy Foundation Board, was a member of the Academy's Alumni Association and a President's Circle Member.
Dick will be interned at the United States Naval Academy on 14 February 2014 following a Chapel service, reception following at the Academy Officers Club. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Fisher House for Families of the Fallen, 116 Purple Heart Drive, Dover AFB, DE 19902.
