Cecile Sueann "Sissy" Depew, 75, of Westmoreland, Kansas, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. She was a long-time resident of the area. Sissy was born December 18, 1938, in Noblesville, Indiana, the daughter of Frank J. and Thelma M. Hines Green. She attended local schools and graduated from High School in 1957 in Sheridan, Indiana. Sissy married Connie D. Depew on February 1, 1957, in Sheridan, Indiana. He survives at their home. She worked for several years as a custodian for the Onaga School District USD 322. She also had worked as a C.N.A. and in the laundry at the Westy Community Care Home. Sissy also was a waitress and housekeeper. Sissy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Columbkille's Catholic Church in Blaine. She loved to watch basketball and football and was an avid KU fan. She collected bells and enjoyed playing Bingo and doing word searches. Sissy loved dogs and was a very caring person always putting other's needs ahead of her own. Sissy is also survived by her children, Chuck Depew (Barb), Wamego and Lynda Depew, Westmoreland; brothers, Rex Carl Green, Wheaton, John Green (Elaine), Ekin, Indiana; grandchildren, Marissa (Shaun) Ostrander, Lenexa, Brandon Depew (Ashley), Abilene, and a great-grandson, Camden. As well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014, at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church in Blaine. Father Pat Sullivan will be the Celebrant. Mrs. Depew will lie-in-state on Wednesday, at the church, starting at 3:00 p.m., where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, they suggest memorials to St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton or Rock Creek Valley Historical Museum, and those may be sent in care of Kufahl Funeral Home in Wheaton.
