1871 Korean Incursion Medal of Honor Recipient. Troy served as at the rank of Ordinary Seaman in the United States Navy, enlisting in May of 1869. His citation reads, "On board the U.S.S. Colorado during the capture of the Korean forts, 11 June 1871. Fighting at the side of Lt. McKee, by whom he was especially commended, Troy was badly wounded by the enemy." It was awarded on June 11, 1871 at Citadel, Korea. Documented sources state that he was originally buried at Stockton State Hospital, the first psychiatric hospital in California, before his remains were moved San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
