Maurice is the son of Jean Crepeau and Suzanne Faumoleau. He was born in Les Roches-Baritaud, in the parish of Chantonnay. He was baptized on 25 November 1637, in St-Germain-de-Prinçay, by the officiating priest named Guillaume Crumois.

According to Fichier Origine, Maurice arrived in Quebec the first time in 1662.

According to "Our French Canadian Ancestors" Thomas J Laforest, Volume 20, Chapter 6, Maurice was granted 3 arpents of land, by Charles de Lauzon, on 15 July 1662. The property was on the north side of the Ile d'Orleans, in the present parish of Saint-Pierre.

It was not uncommon for our ancestors to return to their homeland on and off, and according to the US & Canada, Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s, he arrived in Quebec a second time in 1665.

He married Marguerite Laverdiere on 12 October 1665, on Ile-d'Orleans. They are the parents of the following (verified PRDH):
1) Marie-Anne (1667-1703) md Nicolas Baillargeon
2) Marguerite (1669-1745) md Georges Plante
3) Joseph (1671- )
