Alvin C. Ahrens 527 N. Center Street, Appleton


Age 83, died unexpectedly at 10:20 am Tuesday, January 7, 1992. He was born May 11, 1908 in the Town of Center and had been an area resident all his life. In 1929, Alvin was employed by Interlake Mills and in 1939, he operated Al’s Tavern on N. Richmond Street. In 1945, Alvin was employed by Art Fuerst Implement Company and in 1965 he was employed by the Appleton Public School System retiring in 1973. Al was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and it Men’s Club. He is survived by his wife, Viola E. (Hintz) Ahrens to whom he had been married for 56 years; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Marianne Parker, Waukesha; Karen and Ralph Hechel, Sheboygan; Joanne and James DeBaere, Menasha; two sons and a daughter-in-law; Dennis Ahrens, Donald and Diane Ahrens all of Appleton; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Olga and George Wolfgram, of Appleton; Ella Kamke, of New London; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Marie (Levitzow) Ahrens; four brothers, Frank, Otto, William and John Ahrens; five sisters: Rose and Annie Ahrens, Bertha Matokovic, Emma Horn and Martha Schabo.

Complete funeral services will be at 11 am Friday, January 10, 1992 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 302 N. Morrison Street with Rev. Ralph C. Waack and Rev. Martin P. Spaude officiating. Entombment will be in the Singing Towers Mausoleum Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street from 4 pm until 9 pm on Thursday and on Friday at the church from 10 am until the time of services. A memorial fund is being established for the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
