William Burton "Billy" Harper, 69, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the home of his son in Corydon, In.He was a Hart County native, a retired off shore oil field worker in the Gulf of Mexico. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, farming, loved NASCAR racing and watching the University of Kentucky basketball team, an avid fan of western movies and especially John Wayne movies. He loved his children, grandchildren and family. His most proud moment was being a father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Kelly Harper and Florence May Goodhue Harper; two brothers, Dorsey Bradley Harper and Bobby Gene Harper; one sister, Rachel Naomi Harper.

Survivors include, four daughters, Eulena Harper Rayborn,Corydon, In., Kellie Jeannette Hopstein, San Diago, Ca.,Kate Marie Devore, Louisville and Joan Louise Byrd, McLian, Ms.; one son, Johnny Wilson Filion, Sr., Corydon, In.Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Three brothers, Earl Wayne Harper, Mc Lian, Ms., WalterKelly Harper, Cave City and Ralph Terry Harper, Saratoga,Wy.; One sister, Rachael Naomi Harper, Glasgow and several lnieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel of WinnFuneral Home, Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1PM with burialto follow in the Harper Cemetery, Horse Cave.Visitation at the funeral home begins at 10AM Friday until service time.

CAVE CITY — Rachel Naomi Harper, 67, of Cave City, died Dec. 21, 2009, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave.

The Hart County native was a member of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was retired from Carhartt. She was a daughter of the late Elmer Kelley Harper and Florence Mae Goodhue Harper. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Dorsey Harper.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. today at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, with burial in Harper's Cemetery in Horse Cave.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Waddell and his wife, Dawn, of Cave City; two daughters, Linda Waddell and her husband, Timmy, of Clermont, Ga., and Theresa Smith and her husband, Steve, of Knob Lick; four brothers, Billy, Walter, Ralph and Wayne Harper; six grandchildren, Christy Waddell, Kyle Smith, Chanea Smith, April Gnez, Patricia Waddell and Eric Sturgeon; and eight great-grandchildren, Chandler Horton, Kristopher Johnson, Damian Waddell, Jerimiah Waddell, Zoe Jaggers, Cody Gnez, Bianca Gnez and Lexie Waddell.

LEEDS, N.D. - Bobby G. Harper, 68, of Bowling Green, Ky., died Aug. 6, 2005, under hospice care, at the home of his daughter in Abercrombie, N.D.

The Horse Cave, Ky., native was raised there and attended school through the sixth grade. He entered the Air Force in 1955 and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, S.D., and was honorably discharged in 1959. While in the Air Force, he earned a GED and graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines at Rapid City, S.D., with a civil engineering degree. He worked worldwide as a planning engineer for projects, including the construction of factories, pharmaceutical plants and refineries. He also worked as the construction manager for many projects. In later years, he started Harper Managements Systems, a consulting and contracting firm. He was most recently working on a refinery contract in Denver. He married Diane Thompson on Dec. 15, 1989, at International Falls, Minn. He was once married to Karen Knutson. Bobby was a member of the Elks, the Order of Kentucky Colonels, the American Legion and was an avid golfer. He was a son of the late Elmer Kelly Harper and Florence Mae Goodhue Harper. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dorsey Bradley Harper.

Funeral was Aug. 9 at St. Petri Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Nelson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Celeste Greenquist of Abercrombie; his wife, Diane Harper of Ada, Minn.; four brothers, Earl Wayne Harper of McClain, Miss., Walter Kelly Harper of Cave City, Ky., William Burton Harper of New Salisbury, Ind., and Ralph Terry Harper of Saratoga, Wyo.; a sister, Rachel Naomi Harper of Cave City; and a granddaughter, Josephine Greenquist of Fargo, N.D.
