Henry W. Beecher, Jr., 78, of Montrose, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 26, 2014. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 21, 1935 to the late Beatrice E. (Rambo) and Henry W. Beecher. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Iva M. (Sivers) Beecher.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Millie and Bob Mann, Montrose, PA, son and daughter-in-law, Henry W. III & Denise Beecher, Willow Grove, PA, 2 grandchildren, Edward Hance and his wife Megan, Beth Hance and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Betty Jean Beecher and sister, Beatrice Virginia Pilling.
Henry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He graduated in 1955 from West Philadelphia High School and then served in the Naval Reserve for 8 years with active duty from 1955-1957 on the USS James C. Owens. He started working at Bell of PA in 1957, transferred to AT&T in 1963 and retired in 1990 with 32 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Artisan Order of Mutual Protection, Past Master Artisan of Jenkintown Assembly, Communications Workers of America Life Membership, Genealogical Society PA, Montrose United Methodist Church, National Rifle Association, Wyoming County H Society and was a former member of the VFW. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing and doing genealogy, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Pastor Sara Kolenda of the Montrose United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Rush Center Memorial Park. Friends may call on the family an hour prior to the service.
Donations can be made in memory of Henry to Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the EMHS Building Fund.
