Amanda Swan Obituary
Amanda M. Swan, the daughter of John Brice and Nancy Faris was born May 18, 1894 near Seymour, Iowa. She departed this life June 4, 1981 at the Golden Age Manor in Centerville, Iowa at the age of 87 years and 16 days.
She had been a resident of Centerville since 1949. She was united in marriage to James E. Swan who preceeded her in death in 1945.
She was baptized at the Seymour Christian Church at the age of 16. Later she became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Centerville. She was a member of Chrescent Bible Class, Senior Citizens 18-80 Club, and Womens Club of Centerville.
She was preceeded in death by her parents. Amanda is survived by a son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cain of Sanibel, Florida; Two grandsons and families, Thomas A. Cain of Longmont, Colorado and John B. Cain of Miami, Florida; Two sisters, Pearl Haines and Estella Squire both of Seymour; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services were held Monday, June 8 1981 at 1:00 p.m. from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour with Rev. Ron Johnson, officiating. Hymns "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer" were sung by Merrill Womach. Pallbearers were Howard Faris, Richard Faris, Tommy Brown, David Faris, Bob Brown and Ramond Hickerson.
Interment was in the Southlawn Cemetery.
There was a memorial to the Seymour Civic Center.
