Blanche Shafer Thrasher passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, Hurst. Interment: 2:30 p.m. Monday in Waco Memorial Park, Waco. Visitation: 8 a.m. Monday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home. Blanche was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Coryell County to Thomas and Birdie Shafer. She married the love of her life, Dick, on Aug. 1, 1941. They were blessed with two sons, Thomas Nelson and Ronald Wayne, and a daughter, Sharon Denise. Blanche was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to laugh and enjoy life to the fullest. She was an avid bridge player and bowled an impressive game. The greatest legacy she left her family and friends was her love and devotion, her infectious laugh, and her spunky personality. She was so blessed with a full and joyous life of 93 years! She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Cross Plains. A special thank-you to the staff of Emeritus Oak Hollow and Grace Hospice. Blanche was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas and Ronald; her parents; and sisters, Ruby, Opal, Luna Mae, Dora, Jean and Mildred. Survivors: Husband, Dick Thrasher; brother, Thomas Shafer; daughter, Sheri Parker; grandchildren, Tyra Newcomer, Georgia Townson, Ronald Thrasher II, John Parker, Aaron Parker and Adam Parker; great-grandchildren, Alex, Andrew and Aidan Newcomer, Mason Alfaro, Brigid, Hannah and Neva Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
