HIGH POINT Mary Josephine Craven McDonald, 89, daughter of John Wesley Craven and Annie Louise Craven, was born on Nov. 2, 1913, in Moore County. She went to live with Jesus on Sunday morning, June 29, 2003.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at English Road Baptist Church in High Point. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro.
Mrs. McDonald was married to Gurney Virgil McDonald for 68 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was kind, generous, gentle and a caring friend to all. Mrs. McDonald loved her Lord and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.
She was predeceased by her parents, one son, James Farrell McDonald, brothers, Robert, Ben, Eli and Curtis Craven and sisters, Flora Craven and Annie C. Purvis.
She is survived by her husband, Gurney Virgil McDonald; sons, Joseph H. McDonald and wife, Helen, Gary W. McDonald and wife, Linda; daughter, Delores M. Underwood; sisters, Gladys Forsyth and husband, Simon and Mattie C. Owens. She is also survived by grandchildren Shelly U. Rhodes and husband, Allen, Patrick W. McDonald, Stacey L. McDonald, Mike, Jim, Mark, Chris and Phil Jackson; great-grandchildren, Emily Jordan Rhodes and Jacob Allen Rhodes.
Visitation will be from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro.
