Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Hay, 2834 Ross Road, who died at Mary Greeley Hospital Wednesday morning will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. from Nichols Chapel of the Collegiate Methodist Church with the Rev. Wilbur Wilcox officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Born at Spring Valley, Wis., Mrs. Hay came to Ames in 1946 from Lawrence, Kan.
A graduate of Wisconsin State Normal College, River Falls, Wis., she taught school for 10 years before her marriage and had written several books of children's stories.
She was a member of Collegiate Methodist Church, Faculty Women's Club, Kappa Phi and Writers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Hay, in 1953.
Survivors include a son, David E. Hay, Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Hazen of Lehore, West Pakistan; Mr.s James T. Kepner of Itaska, Ill. And Mrs. Werner Kuhne, Berkeley, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Pearce, Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Leslie Daniels, Ft. Collins, Colo., and 10 grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at Adams Funeral Home until noon Monday.
