Richard was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Lancaster. He was a World War Ii Veteran with the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW Post #3761 and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Richard retired from his plumbing and heating business, whiched he started in 1965.
Richard is survived by his wife of 70 years,Dorothy; children, Carolyn (Tim) Schneider, Sara Jane (Roger) Thomas, Richard (Marcia) Dickson Jr., Kathy (Robert) Badeley, Patricia (Mark) Widener, and Tim (Emily) Dickson; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Leon Dickson.
Richard was preceed in death by his sister, Lois (Dickson) Snoke; brother, Joseph Dickson; and parents, Pearl and Huldah Dickson.
Funeral service for Richard will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the First English Lutheran Church, 220 North Columbus Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Pastor Brian Dillahunt officiating.
Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 NORTH COLUMBUS STREET, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
