DEATH OCCURS IN WEST POINT
Orval W. Thurgood Will Be Interred After Services Sunday Following a lengthy illness, Orval W. Thurgood died at the family home in West Point, Davis County at 4:55 a. m. today. Born in Bountiful on December 1, 1892, a son of Samuel J. and Martha Tolman Thurgood, he married Susie Singleton in the LDS Salt Lake City temple April 14, 1921. His widow and three children survive: Lola, Lawrence and Blaine, all of West Point. Besides the parents who reside in Syracuse, the following brothers and sisters survive: Judson Thurgood, West Point; Lorin Thurgood, Syracuse; Mrs. Hyrum Bennett (Ella Thurgood), Mrs. Willis Singleton (Martha Jane Thurgood), Gilbert [sic - actually Delbert or "Dell"] Thurgood and Mrs. Roy Dahl (Bessie Thurgood), all of West Point, and Miss LaVaun Thurgood, Syracuse. Mr. Thurgood had been an active member of the LDS church, West Point ward, for many years,and was for a long time a ward teacher. He served eight years as secretary of the West Point ward elders' quorum, being relieved the first of this year because of his physical condition. Funeral services will be held at two p. m, Sunday in West Point ward chapel, directed by Bishop A. R. Cook. Friends may call at the Larkin Sons' drawing room Saturday from eleven a. m. to four p. m. and at the family home in West Point Saturday from six to nine p. m. and Sunday until one p. m. Interment will be in West Point cemetery. Flowers left at the Larkin mortuary until nine-thirty a. m. Sunday will be taken to the home.
