At the age of 16 months old her parents died under tragic circumstances - (Sept 23rd 1905-Kyle and Sept. 24th 1905- Carrie)in Topeka, KS. Gladys was the youngest child of three girls born to Kyle and Carrie. She was adopted shortly thereafter by the Beyer family and returned 5 months later to the Orphanage in Topeka, KS in which they sent her to the St. Vincent's Orphanage in Leavenworth KS. There she was later adopted by Charles and Mary Schrick of Leavenworth and lived in Jefferson and Leavenworth Kansas.
The Schricks then moved to Temescal, California along with Gladys and her son born December 3, 1924- named Charles Edward Raspberry later to take the name of Schrick.
She married William Carlisle sometime after 1930 in California.
Her two biological sisters were:
Nellie Moore whose baptismal name was Helena Marie Moore and later adopted and re-named Billie Jean Tanner Burnett
and
Alice Jeannetine (Genevieve) Moore -Weber- Evers.
