Eugenia "Geni" (Beckner) Smith, 91, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin. She was born on January 10, 1922 in Chaumont, Kentucky to Veachel and Josephine (Wilkins) Beckner. She married Ned B. Smith, Sr. on March 7, 1942. He preceded her in passing. She is survived by son, Ned (Maria) Smith, Jr. of New Albany; daughter, Melissa (Fred) Taylor of Whiteland; grandchildren, Daniel Delora, Stephanie Smith and Christopher Smith. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, Ned, and siblings, Albert Beckner, Enola Fryer, Elsie Cassidy, Elizabeth England and Hazel Shirley and Mainee Greene She graduated from Glasgow Junction High School where she was the Valedictorian of her senior class. She also attended Bowling Green College of Commerce. Geni was employed as a Treasurer at the Franklin Township Community School Corporation from 1963 to her retirement in 1982. She was a charter member of the Franklin Central Christian Church in Wanamaker and a charter member of the Stuart Congregational Church in Stuart, Florida. She and her husband, Ned enjoyed twenty years of retirement living in Stuart, Florida. The family would like to thank the Christina House caregivers for the excellent care and friendship she received. Rev. Rob Keaton will conduct a service on Friday, December 27th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Friday, December 27th from 9:30 a.m. to time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakgrove Cemetery in Washington, Indiana.
