His world War I draft registration card shows his middle name spelled 'Brooster'. I have been informed by a family member that that spelling is incorrect. Further, it's likely he spelled it that way due to the way that it sounded as did many census takers.

"The 'Brewster' name was carried thru the lineage as a middle name. His grandson lists him as Sheriff Brewster Hudgins also. Sheriff and Brewster are both surnames carried thru our lineage as middle names."
