Lyle E. Anderson, 81, of Owatonna, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Lyle was born February 27, 1932 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Marcus and Beatrice (Moe) Anderson. He attended Country school for eight years at District #13, Aurora Township and was a 1949 graduate of Owatonna High School. Lyle spent four years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Texas, Montana, Wyoming and Germany. While in Germany in 1955 he was selected as the outstanding airman of his squadron. After discharge from the service he attended the University of Minnesota for a short while and later Tri-State College.
He married Virginia Jasmen in 1957 and they divorced in 1982.
Lyle worked for Electrical Contractors in the Owatonna and Rochester area for 37 years and retired in 1993 as accountant-office manager. He enjoyed singing and sang with several church choirs in the area and also the Owatonna Community choir in the mid-60''s and again in 2005. He served on a church council and chaired a townhouse board of directors.
Lyle married La Vone Borchardt in 1988.
He is survived by his wife La Vone Anderson and their son Michael Anderson of Rochester; sisters Ruth Wendlandt and Annie Erdman of Owatonna; brother, Paul Anderson of Mapleton and grandson Corry Gore.
He is preceded by his parents, older brothers Harold and Thomas two infant sons in 1958 and 1964 and a daughter Gail in 1988.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with a visitation an hour before with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be at Fort Snelling.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to American Cancer Society.
