Wayne Allen, 77, of Bloomfield, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at his residence. Born Aug. 26, 1924 in Koleen, he was the son of Lon and Sarah (Haywood) Allen. He was a heavy equipment operator for Harvey's Construction in Indianapolis, retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the Army in World War II. Survivors include, one son, Gary Allen of Bloomfield; one granddaughter, Angela Sue Gardner of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandson, Gary Dean Allen of Plainfield; two sisters, Margaret Hardesty and Mildred Lucas both of Bloomfield; one brother, Carl Allen of Bloomfield; four step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Bessie) (Bough) Allen on July 22, 2000; infant sister, Imola Allen; four brothers, Jim, Les, Gilbert, and Wilbert Allen; and his parents. Funeral services will be at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield at 2 p.m. on Friday with the Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery.
