The son of Jacob & Anne (Lehn Waggoner, in 1860 he was a farmer
living with his family in North Middleton Township, Cumberland
County, Pennsylvania.

A Civil War vetran, he was drafted in Carlisle, October 16, 1862,
mustered into federal service at Camp McClure, Chambersburg,
November 1 as a private with Co.C. 158th Pennsylvania Infantry
(aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his
company August 12,1863.

He married Amanda Weaver in 1867 and fathered Charles Edgar
(b.1876); Calvin, (b.1879); and Minnie May, (b.2/22/1881 married
Melville Monroe Carpenter). By 1890 he was living with his family in Jefferson County, Nebraska.
