Thomas "Tom" J. Godbee, age 76 of Cumming, Georgia passed away Tuesday, April, 10, 2007 at his home. He was born in Millen, Georgia on December 25, 1930 to the late Luther Spurgeon Godbee and Marie Burke Godbee.

Tom attended Elementary School in; Portal, GA, and West-Side Elementary in Statesboro, GA. He graduated from Statesboro High School in Statesboro, GA. in 1950.
He proudly served in the Georgia National Guard-Army-101st AAA for 4 years during the Korean Conflict with 2 years of that on active duty and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. 1st Class.

After his active duty ended in 1952 he earned a BS degree in 3 years from Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro, GA., graduating in 1955 (Renamed Georgia Southern College in 1959), he earned a MA degree from George Peabody College, at Nashville, TN. in 1962 and he earned a EDS degree from the University of Georgia, at Athens, GA. in 1967.

His 35 years of dedicated service in his educational career covered several positions, starting in Ridgeland, S.C. as a teacher; Fulton County, GA. as a teacher; Screven County, GA. as School Principal; Telfair County, GA. as School
Principal; Long County, Ga.; Toombs County, GA. as School Principal; Fernandina Beach, FL. as High School Principal; Nassau, County, FL. served on County staff for 4 years.

He retired in 1993, but did not stop Teaching; he volunteered to share his extensive wood working knowledge by teaching a class at the Alpharetta, GA. Senior citizen's center. In addition to his love of wood working he also enjoyed shopping at Flea Markets, Electronics, watching old western movies on TV, watching the Atlanta Braves games on TV, restoring old cars especially his prized 1975 Chevrolet Ciera Classic convertible and camping with family in his
motor home.

His most beloved camp site was Unicoi State Park near Helen, Georgia. Tom was a devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather that will be greatly missed by his family and friends that loved and admired him.

Tom has gone home to heaven to be with his Lord and loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers; James Benjamin Godbee "J.B.", Jessie Cleveland Godbee and wife Ahmeda, his sisters; Ethel Mae Godbee Arledge and
husband T.J., Selma Godbee Burke and husband William, Janie Lou Godbee Conner and husband Sam.

Mr. Godbee leaves to cherish his memories a devoted loving family that include his wife of 50 years; Anna Ruth Baker Godbee, children; Ruth Elaine Godbee Smith and husband Robert "Rob" of Columbia, SC, Thomas J. Godbee Jr and Mae of Roswell, GA, Anna Marie Godbee Ramsey and husband Franklin of Signal Mountain, TN, James Baker Godbee of Cumming, GA, grandchildren; Ashleigh Elaine Ramsey,
Brandon Alexander Ramsey, Aris Bosco, Dega-Ana Bosco, Bianco Bosco, Justin Smith and Heather Smith. great-grandchildren; Hannah Bosco and Isabella Castro;
sister; Mildred Godbee Bailey of Statesboro, GA, mother-in-law; Ruth James Baker of Cumming, GA, sisters-in-law; Sondra Baker Odom and husband Oscar of Fernandina Beach, FL, Olivia Baker Thomason and husband Larry of Scottdale, GA, 22 nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram St. Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm on Friday. A service will be held at the funeral home at 2 pm on Saturday. Burial will follow at Sawnee View Gardens, 1390 Dahlonega Hwy., Cumming, GA.
