Large Attendance at Funeral of Andrew Carther Attended by many relatives and friends from Cornwall and district points, the funeral of Andrew Carther was held Thursday afternoon from Meldrum's Funeral Home, 45 Second street west, to Trinity Anglican Church and Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Carther died at Cornwall General Hospital on Tuesday night, having been a patient there from the previous Saturday. He had been in failing health for some time and in serious condition for three weeks. The service at the funeral home, church and graveside was conducted by Ven. H.A.E. Clarke, M.A., Archdeacon of Cornwall, Rector of Trinity Anglican Church. Hymns sung during the service were "Nearer, My God, to Thee" and "Rock of Ages." Earle G. Poole, organist and choir director presided at the console. Pallbearers were Arthur Gallinger, Salton Shaw, Harrison Seaver, Harry Miller, Alex Jamieson and Robert Robinson. Many lovely floral tributes surrounded the casket, evidences of the esteem in which Mr. Carther was held in the community and the regret felt at his death. The family received numerous messages of condolence. While the body remained at the funeral home, many friends called to pay their respects to one who was so universally esteemed and to express sympathy to members of the bereaved family.
