Mildred Wood Hale, 97, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in the Village at Gordon House in Gordonsville. She was born on October 30, 1916, in Nokesville, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Wood and Nettie Herring Wood and wife of the late William Franklin Hale II. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sonny Vereen. Mrs. Hale is survived by three sons, William Franklin Hale III and wife, Pauline, of Madison, Joseph Clay Hale and wife, Donna, of Buckingham, Lynwood Hale and wife, Louise, of Tampa, Florida; a brother, T. Clay Wood of Nokesville; and six grandchildren, Dean Allen Cook, Tammy Kennedy, Megan Ann Wood, Jason Lee Hale, Heather Burke, and Cain Vereen; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2013, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, conducted by the Reverend Alan Follett. The interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 7, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901
