Wilma Lee House, age 91, of Nokesville, Virginia passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Fauquier Health and Rehab Center.
Wilma Lee was born December 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Nettie Gertrude (Herring) Wood. She was a member of Greenwich Presbyterian Church, Nokesville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Ewing Michael House in 1985; her daughter, Julia Lee Mayhugh; and 7 sisters and brothers, Frances Brann, Lila Kerlin, Irene Corder, William Wood, Vernon Wood, Murray Wood, and Doris May.
Survivors include three sons, Paul M. House, Dale A. House, and Harold E. House, all of Nokesville; one brother, T. Clay Wood of Nokesville; one sister, Mildred Hale of Madison; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
Wilma Lee devoted her life to her family. She loved cooking, gardening, and quilting. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were blessed with home-cooked meals - highlights included corn pudding, coconut cake, and delicious yeast rolls. Her quilts are beautiful creations of hand-stitching and embroidery, a fitting memorial to the beauty of her love.
Her church family was also blessed with the bounty from her kitchen and gardens. She cooked for many church meals and contributed flower arrangements for the church altar many Sundays.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 14 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St. Manassas. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15 at 10:00 at Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 15305 Vint Hill Road, Nokesville, with Pastor Don Meeks officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers, or contributions to Greenwich Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 15305 Vint Hill Road, Nokesville, Virginia 20181, in loving memory of Wilma Lee House.
