Opal Jean Spong, daughter of Arthur and Grace Brooks Schaefer, was born Jan 24, 1911 in Topeka, Kansas and died Dec. 12, in St. Francis Hospital, Marceline.
In 1937, she married Ivan Spong and they were parents of one son.
She is survived by that son, Mike, of the U.S. Army in Germany; her mother, Mrs. Grace Schaefer, Marceline; and two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Wiggins and Mrs. Charles James, Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her father, husband and one brother.
