Actor. He appeared in almost 70 films and television shows over his 50-year career, mostly uncredited, with the majority of his work in Western and science fiction genres. Born with dwarfism, he played 'Braggart Munchkin' in the 1939 fill classic "The Wizard of Oz." Other film appearances include the musical/Western "The Terror of the Tiny Town" (1938, his first film appearance), Alfred Hitchcock's "Saboteur" (1942), "Superman and the Mole Men" (1951), "The Incredible Shrinking Man" (1957), "Evil Roy Slade" (1972), and "Little Cigars" (1973). Probably his most significant role was in Clint Eastwood's classic film "High Plains Drifter" in which he portrayed 'Mordecai,' a friendly dwarf who was sympathetic to Eastwood's character 'The Stranger.' His final film appearance was a voice role in "Bloody Wednesday." He died at the age of 79.
