Mrs. George Kettle, 79, Prairie Road, Rt. 3, Janesville, died this morning in Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.
The former Alena Bertha Schachtschneider was born in the town of Harmony Feb, 17, 1895, and was a lifelong Janesville area resident. She was married to Mr. Kettle Dec. 27, 1912, in Rockford. They observed their 61st anniversary last December shortly before his death Jan. 14, 1974. Mrs. Kettle was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and formerly active in its women's groups.
Surviving are two sons, Ted and William J., both of Janesville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Augusta Amundjeff, Mt. Prospect, Ill.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wolfgram Funeral Home, and at the church prior to service time.
