JANESVILLE - William J. Kettle, age 77, of 1548 Anthony Ave., passed away Fri. morning, July 12, 1996 at Mercy Hospital. He was born April 3, 1919, in Janesville, the son of the late George and Lena (Schachtschneider) Kettle. He attended school in Janesville and he was a graduate of Janesville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Europe during WWII. While stationed in England, he met his future wife, Yvonne H. Barham, they married in Cambridge, England on Nov. 18, 1944; she preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 1995. After his discharge they moved back to Janesville where Bill entered the Rock County Sheriffs Department as a deputy Sheriff. He was later employed for over 23 years as a secuity officer at General Motors retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
Bill is survived by his 3 sons: John (Kathy) Kettle and Richard (Nola) Kettle, both of Janesville, and Robert (Mary) Kettle of Fort Wayne, IN; and 9 grandchldren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore "Ted" Kettle.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. July 15, 1996 at Whitcomb Funeral Home, 220 S. Academy St., Janesville, with Rev. Donald Wandersee officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Whitcomb Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials in his name may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
