He married the former Maye Parks on June 12, 1937.
In 1938 he founded a furniture store and funeral home in Lutesville, MO (which eventually became the Ward Funeral Home). He also founded a funeral home in Bernie, MO. He sold his Lutesville funeral home in 1940 and the one in Bernie in the 1950's.
Later he was active in sales and marketing for the Ultra Life Laboratories in St. Louis.
He was a member of Hanley Road Baptist Church in Clayton.
He was a member of Fairview Heights Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert P. Drum of North Kingston, RI; William E. Drum of St. Louis, MO; and Roy Gordon Drum of University City; one daughter, Mrs. Tanya F. Bentley of Kingwood, TX; and seven grandchildren.
One daughter and four brothers preceded him in death.
Service was Tuesday at Marble Hill Baptist Church. Burial was in Bollinger County Memorial Park.
