Adele Abbott Khoury, 102, passed away peacefully at St. Catherine's Hospice in Waco on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in the presence of loved ones. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, January 10, at St. Albans Episcopal Church, followed by a meal and reception in the Parish Hall. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco.

Adele was born in Nabay, Lebanon, near Beirut, to the late John Ferris and Martha Koury Abbott. She and Martha immigrated to America in 1922 to join John in Waco after his service in World War I. She attended business school in Houston. She was married to Abe Assad Khoury on August 15, 1932. They were married more than 45 years and had no children. She was an accomplished woman in all her endeavors which included cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She was a gracious hostess and mentor to many. Adele was a professional business woman alongside her husband Abe for many years with Khoury Brokerage Company. She was loved for her contagious smile and kind, loving, generous spirit. She was a devoted Christian and lover of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a sister, Victoria Abbott Montanio.

Adele is survived by her sisters, Rosemary Abbott Fadal and Eileen Abbott; as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews and too numerous to mention.
