A retired carpenter and a resident of Denham Springs, he died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at his daughter's home in Baton Rouge.

He was 86 and a native of Liberty, Miss.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Morgan Talbert of Denham Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pam Talbert of Summit, Miss.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and John Teal of Baton Rouge and Darlene and Guy Perez of Denham Springs; a brother, Tommie H. Talbert of Liberty; 11 grandchildren, Garry Talbert of Denham Springs, Scott Talbert of Baton Rouge, Darryl Jones of Denham Springs, Jackie Scivicque of Baton Rouge, Heather Scalan of Greenwell Springs, Brad and Brooke Teal of Baton Rouge, Beth Ritland of Colorado Springs, Kellye Stepp of Baton Rouge, Megan Gustafson of Denham Springs and Hunter Perez of Denham Springs; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Stuart and Grace Terrell Talbert; brother, William P. Talbert; sister, Jewel T. Warnack; and nephew, Billy Thomas Talbert.

Visiting at Brown Funeral Home, Liberty, on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at Liberty United Methodist Church, Liberty, on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 1 p.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by Jim Talbert of McComb Church of Christ and Hong Sik Yoo of Liberty United Methodist Church. Interment in Terrell Cemetery, Amite County.

He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 728th Railroad Battalion.
