He came to Indiana in 1873. Two years later, on April 8, 1875, he was married to Miss Janette DALRYMPLE. To this union were born four children—Mrs. Corina KEYS, James W., Mrs. Minnie BULLOCK, of Solsberry, and Charles B., of Bloomfield
Eight years ago death robbed him of his companion, since which time he lived alone most of the time. When disease fastened itself upon him he was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank KEYS, where all the children ministered to his every want. But eight days later, at 9:30 on the eve of November 28, he peacefully passed away, aged seventy-seven years, five months and twelve days, leaving the four children, sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to mourn his departure.
In his early, married life he, with his companion, united with the Congregational Church, remaining a loyal member until his death. He was a regular attendant at church services and Sunday school when circumstances would permit, and was a great student of the scriptures. He leaves his children and grandchildren a heritage of honesty and uprightness which all may cherish and strive to emulate. He has fought a good fight, he has kept the faith, he has finished his course, henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness.
The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Solsberry on Monday afternoon, November 30, 1925, Elder T. A. COX officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Solsberry cemetery till Jesus comes.
