Jonas HAYES, lifelong resident of Koleen, succumbed at his home at Koleen last Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, following a lingering illness of eight months. Death was caused by a concussion of the brain.

Mr. HAYES was born in Greene County on November 21, 1861, being seventy-three years, eight months and ten days old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Della BAKER, on June 12, 1887. To this union were born twelve children, four of whom preceded their father in death.

Surviving is the widow, and the following eight children: Mrs. Sam FAUCETT, of Dugger; Mrs. M. C. CORBIN, of Bloomington; Mrs. Ray FEUTZ, of Bloomfield; Mrs. Herman CORBIN, of Koleen; Harley HAYES, Frank HAYES, Walter HAYES and Arthur HAYES, all of Koleen. He also leaves the brother, John HAYES, of Bedford, and two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca EDINGTON, of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Ella ASHCRAFT, of Koleen.

Funeral services, under the direction of Everett LEHMAN, funeral director of Owensburg, were conducted at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at Ashcraft Chapel, with the Rev. Logan HATFIELD, of Owensburg, officiating. Interment took place in the Ashcraft cemetery.
