Peter M. Graves, son of James and Margaret Graves, died June 17, 1944, at a hospital in Fulton at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 3 days. He had been in failing health for about four months. Mr. Graves was born April 14, 1872, in Andrew County and spent his life here. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Bowers in the year 1894. To this union were born nine children. Two of the children preceded him in death, one in infancy and Otto at the age of nineteen.
He is survived by seven other children, James Graves of St Joseph, Mrs. John Rogers of Altadena, Calif., George Graves of Amazonia, Pete Graves of Savannah, Mrs. Robert Wilders of Nyssa, Ore., Mrs. Otto Zahnd of Savannah and Mrs. Charles Bowman of Nodaway. He also leaves three brothers, George Graves of Stover, Harve Graves of California and another brother in Stillwater, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Mart Eisminger; 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He has five grandsons in military service.
