Joel Jackson Rolen, 66, retired farmer of the Sikes Community, died suddenly from a heart attack at his home Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 5:10 p.m. He was a native of Sikes and a member of the Pentecostal Church there.

Last rites were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Sikes Pentecostal Church with burial following in the Hurricane Grove Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife of Sikes; seven sons, James, Donald Ray, Connie, and Ronnie, all of Sikes, Charles and Howell, both of Monroe, and Joe, Jr., of Orange, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Alfred Parker and Ms. Orell Parker, both of Sikes, and Mrs. Aline Coon, Orange, Texas; two brothers, Oscar Rolen, Sikes, and George Rolen, Willite, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Folden and Mrs. Etta Folden, both of Winnfield; 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
