Drowned at Barton Brook
Frank J. Allen, 60,was found Monday night at about 7 o'clock drowned in Barton brook near his home in the north part of town. He had been an invalid for some time from paralysis but was able to walk about and it is supposed he fell from a narrow bridge while crossing the brook and was unable to get out of the water, although it was not deep at the place where he was found. Mr. Allen was a native of Greenfield, a farmer, and well known and respected citizen. He was the son of John S. and Elizabeth Capon Allen. He leaves besides his wife, two sons, John and Herbert. He also leaves a brother, Oscar C. Allen of Cambridge and six sisters, Miss Sarah Allen, Mrs. Merrick Slate, Mrs. Emerson Ballou, Mrs. Isaac Barton of this town and Mrs. Edwin Burrows and Mrs. Adelbert Atherton of Bernardston. The funeral was held at 1:30 Thursday at the house.
