Macdonald "Mac" Matter and last surviving daughter of General Brehon Somervell, father of the Pentagon, former chairman of Koppers and one of the founders of Pittsburgh's Civic Light Opera. Connie was at various times an equestrienne, pilot and airplane mechanic, avid skier, golfer and scuba diver. She and Mac lived all over the United States between their marriage in 1949 and their return to Pittsburgh in 1972 to become fixtures at the University Club in Oakland (where they met in 1948) and at Wildwood Golf Club in Allison Park. Connie is survived by daughter Jean-Anne Matter (Allen Humphrey); sons Bradley (Holly) and James (Caryn) Matter; grandchildren Alec and Brehon Humphrey and Elizabeth and Arthur Matter.
