Richard Fielding Wayland, 64, of 1916 Jefferson Street, Bluefield, died Monday morning in a Bluefield hospital after a long illness.

Born in Roanoke, VA, he was a retired salesman for Joy Manufacturing Company. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Men's Bible Class, and was a lifetime member of the Tri-Angle Gun Club. He also was a member of the Bluefield Masonic Lodge No 85.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Frances Walk Wayland; one son, Richard F Wayland Jr of Hatboro, PA; one daughter, Mrs. K.L. (Charlotte Ann) Muller of Alexandria, VA; and one sister, Mrs. J.C. (Anna) Walters of Bluefield.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 pm at Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lawrence Sherwood, Dr. C>H> Patterson and Rev Marvin Barbre officiating. Burial will be in Monte Vista Park Cemetery.

Pall bearers: Dick Hight, Vernal Raines, Seibert Bailey, Doug Leffel, David Richardson, Tom Leedy, Rev. Charles Wilson and Dr. Jack Thomas.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Mercer County Cancer Society.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 9 p.m.
