Edward Jospeh Wyngaert of Ferndale, died Monday, November 23, 1998. He was sixty-seven. Mr. Wyngaert was born on June 12, 1931 in Ferndale to Joseph and Jane (Church) Wyngaert. He attended Ferndale schools and entered the US Army on May 5, 1955; served twenty-two years with twelve years in artillery and eight years in Army communications; served in Korea, Panama, Vietnam and Germany. He retired in Ft. Holabird, MD, as a Sgt. Major.

For three years he worked at Mr. Baker Plywood and fifteen years for the Ferndale School District Transportation Department and retired in 1991.

He was a member of American Legion Post #154 and VFW Post #1585; active in the Knights of Columbus. Ed volunteered as a driver of the Disabled American Veterans van to take patients to the VA Medial Center in Seattle for six years.

He and Fran enjoyed traveling after his retirement to visit friends and family throughout the US and Baja, Mexico. He also enjoyed a visit from his Belgian relatives from his father's family this past summer. He enjoyed time on the water with his family who jokingly knew him as Captain of the SS Minnow along with his first mate "Harry."

Mr. Wyngaert is survived by his wife of 34 years, Fransena (Weidkamp) Wyngaert of Ferndale; sons Michael and Theresa Wyngaert of Columbus, OH, Joseph and Tina Wyngaert of Ferndale, Jeff Wyngaert of Bellingham; stepchildren Renee and Larry Arko of Ferndale, Joene and Larry Steele of E. Peoria, IL, Greg and Vicki Riley of Kent, WA; ten grandchildren: Amanda Pennington of Rifle, CO; Chad Arko of Ferndale; Erin Steele of Peoria, IL; Jeff Riley of Kent; Tim Riley of Kent; Joey Wyngaert of Ferndale; Lane, Hillery, Jessica Wyngaert of Alabama; Patrick Wyngaert of OH; sister Josephine Soren of Ferndale; brothers Louis Wyngaert of Custer; Jim Wyngaert and John Wyngaert of Ferndale; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Pennington of Worland, WY. A funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 27, 1998, 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale with a Graveside Service following at Enterprise Cemetery.
