She was born February 6, 1919 in Salina, Utah a daughter of Ole Vest and Alta Vella Brown Sorenson, and the youngest of eight children. Mildred grew up in Blackfoot Idaho, Springville, and Greenwich, where she attended school in the little red school house and graduated from Richfield High School, class of 1936. She married Newel A. Nielson, March 28, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mildred and Newel were married for 67 years until he passed away on December 31, 2007.

Mildred was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many positions including Sunday School Teacher, Secretary, Primary Teacher, Young Women's, Stake Relief Society, and was a Visiting Teacher all of her life. Mildred and Newel served three missions at the Manti Temple and together spent hundreds of hours doing family history and genealogy work. They worked extraction for the LDS Church and researched names and grave sites at the Koosharem Cemetery finding many unmarked graves and put headstones or markers on them, cataloging them for future generations.

She loved to write histories and stories and helped compile the books "Our Own Sevier" and "Grass Valley History". She loved making quilts, gardening, serving others and spending time with her wonderful husband and family.

She is survived by her children: Dan N. (Evelyn) Nielson, Maxine (Thomas) Talbot, Paul M.
